So, little wonder if it seems that children who on average watch nearly 30 hours of TV a week - that's two months of television annually! - may be less reverent or respectful toward adults than they might have been a few decades ago. Now that reality television saturates the airwaves - a cheaper option for networks, and an addictive compulsion for a voyeuristic American public - the aggressive, often rude behaviors of reality TV stars and "entertainment news" anchors set the standard for the millions of American children and adults who watch the shows.
